The Outer banks of North Carolina is a spectacular place to find a variety of birds, from the majestic Bald eagle to the tiny Ruby-throated hummingbird. Dare County has a lot to offer! In fact, 427 species of bird have been documented in the County (Ebird Dec 2019)! The variety of habitats, its position in the eastern migratory flyway, and the geography of the county is very attractive to many species of bird. Over the course of a day, you can bird Pocosin swamps, sand dunes, agricultural fields, freshwater marshes, tidal saltwater marshes, maritime forests, and beautiful beaches— observing 100 species in a day is possible under good conditions. I would love to show you some of the amazing birds and other natural wonders the area has to offer!
